. .:: There’s something about full moons, floods, and snow storms that seem to bring on the babies. On this particular evening, dad called my cell, saying, “She thinks she might be in labor. You can head on over.” I asked a couple clarifying questions and casually said, “Alright, I’ll start heading your way in a bit.” I hang up the phone, grab my on-call bag, throw on my coat and snow boots, kiss my husband goodnight, and BAM… I’m out the door. Then, I’m skating down the snow-packed roads in my fast little car. At this point, I’m quite comfortable and confident driving in weather. When I arrived, I heard quiet coos and whispers. I entered the room to see the birth pool sitting serenely at the bedside, unused. I was utterly surprised to find Eden in her momma's arms already, staring up at disbelieving, joyful eyes. Mom didn’t actually realize this was really happening until she had the urge to push! Gratefully, the midwife arrived just as she was emerging into the world, just 5 minutes before I arrived. What a story, eh?! This is the home birth of Eden. ::. .
